HISTORY OF NPCI CENTER

Establishment of an independent state – the Republic of Tajikistan and the processes of transition of the economy to market relations brought into WW problem of creation of new governmental managing bodies, in particular, a body for realization of the State's policy in the field of the protection of the objects of industrial property became necessary.
In connection with this by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No 242 from 28 May 1993 a. on the basis of the former Tajik Scientific and Research Institute of Scientific and Technical Information and Technical and Economic Research (TajikNIINTI) a National Center for Patents and Information was created, one of the main functions of which is the protection of the State's interests in the field of inventions, industrial designs, trademarks and service marks and other subjects of industrial property inside the country and abroad, and also a coordination of inventive activity.

1993 – Creation of the National center for patents and information:

1994 – Tajikistan joined the World Intellectual Property Organization and accessed to the most important international Agreements and Treaties in the field of industrial property protection.

1994 / Febrary 2 – Enactement of the Temporary Regulations of the Republic of Tajikistan on Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs.

1995 / April 14 – The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomaly Rahmonov signed the Act of accession to the Eurasian Patent Convention.

1995 – The grant of titles of protection for subjects of industrial property began.

1995 – Patent No 1 of the Republic of Tajikistan was granted.

1995 / August 1 – Enactement of the Temporary Regulations of the Republic of Tajikistan on Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs.

1996 – The beginning of publication of the Official Gazette quarterly.

1996 – Creation of the Institute of Patent Attorneys and adoption of the legislation for its activity.

1997 – The first conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" and National competition for the best inventor were held.

1997 – The first WIPO Gold Medal for the Best Inventor of the Republic of Tajikistan was awarded.

1997 – Regional conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" was held in the city of Khudjund.

1998 – Regional conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" was held in the city of Kurgantube.

1999 / April – International seminar on " Madrid system of International Registration of Marks".

1999 / August – The second conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" and National competition for the best inventor were held.

1999 – Two WIPO Gold Medals for the Best Inventor for 1998 and 1999 were awarded.

1999 – Regional conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" was held in the city of Khorog.

2000 / March – The 10-th meeting of the Interstate Council of CIS on the Protection of Industrial Property was held in the city of Dushanbe.

2000 / March – The 9-th meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization was held in the city of Dushanbe

2000 / May – The Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists working in the field of Intellectual Property was held.

2001 – The beginning of publication of the first professional journal on industrial property (quarterly) "Industrial property and the market".
Together with the Eurasian Patent Organization a seminar on "Information technologies in the Patent Office" wasd held in Dushanbe.

2001 – A draft of the Agreement between ROSPATENT and NCPI was discussed with the delegation from ROSPATENT

2001 / August – The third conference on "National system of protection of industrial property objects in the Republic of Tajikistan" and National competition for the best inventor were held.

2001 – Two WIPO Gold Medals for the Best Inventor for 2000 and 2001 were awarded.

2001 – The following book was published: Inom G. Takhirov. "Inventors of the Republic of Tajikistan"/ National Center for Patents and Information, Dushanbe, 2001, 356 pages, 320 fig.

 2001 – Signed agreement on cooperation between Rospatent and NCPI.

2003 – Seminar on “Intellectual property in world trade system”.

2003 – Established interuniversity Chair “Protection of industrial property objects”.

2003 – Conference devotes to 10-years anniversary of NCPI and competition “The best inventor of Tajikistan”.

2003 – Three Gold Medals of WIPO to the best inventors of Tajikistan for 2002-2003 were awarded.

2003 – International seminal on “Intellectual property as an instrument of economic development” in common with WIPO.

2004 – Regionalconference on “National system of protection of intellectual property of Republic of Tajikistan” in Kayrakum.

2004 – Enactment of Laws of Republic of Tajikistan “on Inventions”№ 17 from 28.02.2004 and “on Industrial designs”    № 16 from 28.02.2004.

2004 – Seminar on “WTO and problems of protection of intellectual property in the Republic of Tajikistan”.

2004 – Сinternational seminar on “Practical utilization of ЕАПАТИС in national patent offices” in common with EAPO.

2005 – NCPI decoration of Honour was created (authors Sh. Nazhmidinov, G. Koupai).

2005 – Conference and competition “The best inventor of Tajikistan ”.

2005 – Two Gold Medals of WIPO to the Best inventors of Tajikistan for 2004 and 2005.

2005 – Seminar on “Education and vocational training in the intellectual property sphere ” in common with WIPO.

2005 – Seminar on “Protection of industrial property objects”.

2005 – Meetingwith science community of Science Academy of RT.

2006 – NCPI decoration was created (authors Sh. Nazhmidinov, G. Koupai)

2006 – Conference devoted to World Intellectual Property Day and Inventor Day of RT.

2006 – Tajik- Indian Center for informational technologies was established on the base of NCPI.

2006 – regional science seminar on “ National Center for Patents and information” in Kurgan-tube.

2006 – Enactment of the Law of Republic of Tajikistan “on protection of topology of integrated surface” № 218 from 22.12.2006.

2007 – The Laws of Republic Tajikistan “on Trademarks and service marks” № 234 from 05.03.2007 and “on Geographic indications” were entry into force.
